Ok konijntje, het is je dag vandaag Ik zing een liedje en ik doe het een beetje traag (AKA The Junkies)

Thanks Sabine for the lovely picture !

Sabine from Retro-Rock & Robots (kids label I sell in my shop) bought this and she wanted to share this picture with me. She's very happy with it and she told me wherever she puts it in her house, it always is right ! So happy she really enjoys it ; it's above all an unique piece !

She keeps Moet et Chandon In a pretty cabinet 'Let them eat cake' she says Just like Marie Antoinette (Killer Queen, Queen)

If we ever do a theme party, it will be a 'let them eat cake' party ...
Can't wait to have that big French oak table in my house so lots of friends can be seated and enjoy breakfast - brunch - lunch - bbq - dinner - late night snack-a-ton
*
Seeing these pictures again (can't watch the Marie Antoinette movie 'cause all our dvd's are packed in boxes right now) they inspire me - the colors, the food, the clothes ..
Those icy blues and frosted pinks - they look so yummie !
I found the perfect color for my living and cooking space ; shady grey ... We choose a new cabinet for our good china and silver spoons. It has a warm "coffee with loads of milk" kinda color and it looks perfect with the new shade we picked for the walls.
Now let's hope Frank (our painter) does a swell job splashing those walls with his brush.
Next Monday he will start on the walls inside the house.

How do you like your eggs in the morning I like mine with a kiss (How do you like your eggs in the morning, Dean Martin)

click for a closer look - we just ordered the custom made table, not the frills seen on it

We've bought a table yesterday. A big chunky table in French oak. Superheavy (I trust mr C on this one as he cleams he's pretty sure it can be delivered in one piece) We've opted for this wooden number cause it's warm, not too frilly and it's a primal basic piece of furniture everyone just needs in his home. It has to be firm to hold a lot of people, eating - laughing and working all in thought. Sizewise we took a 240cm length and 100 cm width so at least 8 people can easily enjoy each others company without touching elbows whilst eating.

Twee meisjes op het strand, ze lezen modebladen (Raymond van het Groenewoud)

As  I mentioned before, I make props voor stylists.

So good to hear people really appreciate your work and remember it ! That must be the biggest compliment of all ! Talked to a woman in the street yesterday who is a big fan of stylist Henny's windowdisplays (or vitrines as we like to call it).
So good to see people really enjoy and change their walk home just to see what's next in the vitrines.
This is something I'd like to do too once I move into my own new house. Make heads turn and start a conversation between people in the street, passing by my house.

the rabbit was made for an Easter special in Actief Wonen magazine

the apron appears in a cookbook. it was specially made in black & white  so it matched the b/w cupcake

Starlight, starbright first star I see tonight (Lucky Star, Madonna)

garland made out of original Japanese origami paper

I' ve made these garlands for an upcoming photoshoot stylist Henny Waalwijk will do with Jan Luijk.
I really hope she will use this (and other stuff I'm currently making) as this garland is my favourite item.
She asked me to make props in yellow, grey and vanilla. Especially yellow has become an obsession for her although she's always into whites and greys. It shows how people can grow into new colors and fashion.

Een eigen huis, een plek onder de zon (Rene Froger)

Coming from a totally different kind of blog, I know need to find my way again in how to create this new blog and make it as close to me as possible. Faces and places was mainly about shops, fashion and good wine & dine spots in my hometown, an inside guide to all hidden places you would not find as a tourist in Antwerp. In 17 days time, I will receive the key to our first house bought together ( I see it as the best wedding anniversary present for my 5 year 'marriage' to Mr. C)
Finally I will have something real to talk/blog about, something I have done for more than 10 years before starting my own kiddies shop. I guess decorating must still be my first love and it always will be. I've never stopped buying interior magazines, going to interior fairs such as Interieur Kortrijk : my close friendship with stylist Henny Waalwijk has given me an opportunity to share the love for interior, to talk about those little things and details only a partner in crime would understand. Henny will be a regular guest here on the blog as you will discover in the future. We are currently working on a Christmas lay out for a magazine (very strange when you have a tan and lived in your shorts and bikini tops for some weeks) but when we saw eachother yesterday to talk things through, you just felt the energy flowing ! So much fun to talk about colour, fabrics and settings.

{OoO}

I am working on props as we speak in our Summer house in Knokke-Heist. This is a perfect setting to empty your head just like the sand that's sliding through an hour glass.
The colors I am working with are still bright but in a more 'frosted' way.
My next post will be showing you more details in picture, so stay tuned for that !
